🚗 Car Infotainment: Cockpit Workbench & USB Storage Guide

ZZ Music is fully optimized for automotive head units, landscape dashboards, and large-screen tablets.

🚀 1. Landscape 'Cockpit Workbench' Layout

In landscape orientation, ZZ Music transitions into a high-efficiency dual-panel layout:

  • Left Panel (40% Width): Big vinyl turntable, audio visualizer, 40dp quick voice rail, and large anti-mistouch driving buttons.
  • Right Panel (60% Width): Play queue, library categories, and synced lyrics. Dialogs adapt as centered 50% modal overlays without blocking controls.

💾 2. USB Drive Direct Scan on Car Head Units

For customized Android car units (Android 7.0 - 10) prone to DocumentsUI picker crashes:

  1. Insert your USB flash drive into the car USB port;
  2. Open ZZ Music -> Settings -> Library Scanning;
  3. If system picker crashes, ZZ Music's fallback engine directly displays physical paths (/storage/usbotg, /mnt/media_rw, etc.);
  4. Tap "Scan Now" to index thousands of lossless tracks in seconds via a zero-copy mmap scanner (actual time depends on your device and library size).

🛞 3. Steering Wheel & AVRCP Media Controls

  • MediaSession Full Integration: full compatibility with the car's physical Next, Previous, and Play/Pause buttons and scroll wheels on the steering wheel.
  • Bluetooth Metadata Sync (AVRCP): when connected to car Bluetooth or a phone hotspot, the song title, artist, album name, and current playback progress are synced in real time to the car dashboard and HUD (head-up display).
  • Call & Navigation Mixing:
    • when a navigation prompt or an in-car phone call arrives, music automatically fades out smoothly and its volume is lowered (Audio Ducking);
    • when the call ends or the navigation prompt finishes, the volume smoothly fades back in within milliseconds.

🔋 4. In-Car Power Management & Keep-Screen-On

Frequent screen timeouts that force you to manually wake the display while driving are a real safety problem:

  1. Keep Screen On:
    • go to Settings -> "Display & Appearance" -> enable "In-car keep screen on";
    • in the player or the landscape workbench, the screen stays lit continuously, alongside the vivid animated spectrum.
  2. Engine-Off & ACC Power-Cut Protection:
    • when the head unit loses power or its audio output focus is taken away, the app automatically pauses playback within milliseconds and saves the current playback queue plus a second-level playback position;
    • the next time you start the car and launch the app, the last remembered track and playback position are restored automatically.
