🔑 Licensing: 30-Day Trial, Pro Activation & Device Migration

ZZ Music follows an ad-free, geek-first philosophy with transparent licensing.

Applies to v4.0.0 and later. On older builds, trust the text shown in Settings ➔ Software License inside the app.

🎁 1. 30-Day Full-Feature Pro Trial

• No registration: the first time you open ZZ Music on a device, a 30-day full-feature Pro trial starts automatically.
• The trial equals Pro: every Pro feature (cloud drive mounting & sync, equalizer, custom playlists, sleep timer, AI tag completion and voice assistant) is fully unlocked — nothing is crippled.
• After the trial: the app falls back to the Free Edition. Local playback, playlist browsing, sharing, online lyrics and covers stay free forever — no nagging popups, no locked app.

The trial counts from the first day you open the app on that device — not the install date, and not the first time you go online. Using the app offline or connecting days later neither shortens nor extends your trial.

⚖️ 2. Free Edition vs Pro

Why sharing and online lyrics stay free

Because the Free Edition is meant to be a complete player you would actually recommend: play your music, share a song with a friend, get lyrics and covers automatically — none of that costs you anything, and none of it costs the developer bandwidth.

The only limit is 50 online lyrics / cover requests per day (resets daily). It exists purely so the public server cannot be used as a free bulk-scraping CDN; normal, song-by-song listening never comes close to it.

🔑 3. Activation Code & Device Migration (Official build)

1. Code format

Since v4.0.0 there is exactly one format and one prefix (5 groups of 5, 29 characters):

ZZPRO-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Earlier versions had two prefixes (ZZPRO- Pro / ZZPLUS- Plus). As of v4.0.0 there is a single Pro tier, so legacy ZZPLUS- codes are no longer accepted.

2. Activation

1. Open Settings ➔ Software License.
2. Paste the code and tap Activate. The app verifies it online once and writes a device-bound digital certificate into local storage, after which it runs fully offline.

3. Switching devices

Just re-enter the same activation code on the new device — there is nothing else to do:

1. On the new device, open Settings ➔ Software License, paste your original code and tap Activate.
2. The server sees the code is bound to another device and re-binds it to this new device.
3. The old device leaves Pro the next time it goes online (it does not stop working immediately, because an offline device cannot be notified).

💡 So keep your activation code safe (email, password manager, notes) — it is the only credential you need, and it can be reused.

🛡️ Even if our server data is lost, your license is not: the app automatically reports the digital certificate it holds, and the server verifies it with its built-in public key and rebuilds the record. No action required from you. The certificate is signed by the server's private key, so its authenticity does not depend on the server database.

4. Troubleshooting

• "This code does not apply to the current client" — codes are bound to a distribution channel. Check whether you installed the Official build (from our website) or the Google Play build. Entitlements are identical, but activation methods differ and do not cross over.
• "This credential was already used" — it has already migrated once; use the credential from your latest device.
• Do I need this during the trial? No extra step is needed, but note the trial restarts from the first-open time on the new device.

🌐 4. Google Play Purchase & Restoration (Google Play build)

• One-click unlock: tap the unlock button in Settings ➔ Software License to open the official Google Play checkout.
• Restore on a new phone: sign in with the same Google account and tap Restore — the app syncs your lifetime Pro entitlement from Google Play.
• Channels are mutually exclusive: the Google Play build has no activation-code input, and the Official build has no Google purchase entry. Both packages share the same application ID and signing key, so only one of them can be installed on a device at a time.
